The first of the Poor Richard’s businesses, Poor Richard's Bookstore, originally opened in 1975. Today it features over a mile of shelves loaded with current good condition used books (meticulously organized in 165 categories), and classics in every field. We also offer a good selection of new, rare and collectible books, and Colorado guides and maps.
The Bookstore now houses the non-profit Conservation Hardware - selling the region’s largest selection of inexpensive conservation devices.
Previously Patricia’s Riches is now Poor Richard's Books & Gifts, is found in the Bookstore and throughout Rico’s. We offer a large selection of exceptional cards, smart urban gifts, women’s accessories and jewelry, journals, stationary and book accessories, high quality portable art materials, and much more, all at great prices. We feature local artists and jewelers’ one-of-a-kind pieces, including our own in-house line of jewelry, Patricia Designs. And if you would like to take your café experience home with you, we package our premium teas and coffees and offer a great selection of tea, coffee and wine paraphernalia as well as a sumptuous selection of gourmet, fair trade and organic chocolates.
In 2005 Rico’s Café and Wine Bar jazzed up the complex. A sleek, yet casual, café atmosphere, Rico’s hosts a full espresso bar, over twenty wines by the glass, brewed-to-order coffee, gourmet beers, thirty loose leaf teas, and fresh fruit smoothies, shakes and Italian sodas. In the evenings Rico’s serves their Chef’s menu, which includes tapas, made-to-order salads, Italian pasta, and weekend dinner specials featuring locally raised meat, poultry and vegetables. Rico’s features live jazz, world, and folk music Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, free of cover charge. Check out our live music calendar. Featuring our Happy Hour - Every Hour.
Next to Poor Richards is Little Richard’s Toystore, opened in 1995, a specialty toystore featuring classic, interactive, educational, and creative toys. Little Richard’s offers a very large selection of hand puppets, wooden and jigsaw puzzles, art and science kits and other learning toys, board games, physical games and athletic equipment and the largest selection of animal replicas, stuffed and figurine, in Colorado Springs. If you are looking for toys that require batteries, we only have a few. We also feature hundreds of smaller toys, great for stocking stuffers and in-store playing.
In 1977, Poor Richard’s Restaurant (originally “Poor Richard’s Feed and Read”) opened in its current location. The Restaurant now serves classic hand-tossed, brick-oven baked, New York-style pizza by the 18-inch pie or giant slice, made from our own special dough and sauce. We also make overstuffed sandwiches, fresh vegetable salads, house-made dressings, soups, breads and lasagna. The back of the restaurant includes a whimsical castle play area, complete with toys, a children’s art space and a lending library of children’s books. We also feature Colorado Springs largest community bulletin board in the front of the restaurant.
